As you’d expect from Mec Yek’s origins, their music contains quite some musical surprises. Some years after SuperDiverCity they present a new album Taisa, meaning ‘tomorrow’. Europeana was produced with live sessions at the Brussels alternative club Magasin 4, recordings at Studio Choux de Bruxelles (rehearsal room of Jaune Toujours) and overdubs at Strawberry Lab (home studio of sound engineer Christine Verschorren), where the album was also mixed. Pauline is a monologue (in Dutch) based on the story of a refugee who arrived in Brussels after a very long and trying journey.
Sarah Baur met Pauline at the request of Médecins du Monde / Dokters van de Wereld in Belgium and wrote a text based on her testimony.
Pauline and Sarah then collaborated on the creation of paper cut stop motion films to accompany the monologue.
This resulted in a performance of half an hour: a good starting point for discussions, debates or interactive lectures.

Before arriving in Brussels, Théophane Raballand followed a graphic education at the Beaux-Arts in Paris. After a couple of years as a musician in Brussels he picked up his visual work and, besides music, he started dedicating himself to photography.
